GIS Training Sessions: AGRC will be hosting 3 training sessions, including “Introduction to ArcGIS I” and “Introduction to ArcGIS II”. These 2 and 3 day training sessions are intended to introduce the fundamental benefits and applications of a complete GIS software solution. ArcGIS 9.2 software will be used in these two classes. AGRC Training Facility: This large, modern facility, located in Room B108 of the State Office Building is equipped with new computers and an integrated, high-resolution projection system. This venue ensures that each student will have use of their own computer for all in-class exercises. Register 10-14 students and receive a 10% discount!! Introduction to ArcGIS I Date(s): August 18-19, 2008, September 15-16 2008 Instructor: Gordon Douglass or Bob Nagel Overview: This 2 day course introduces participants to ArcGIS and provides the foundation for becoming a successful ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo user. Participants learn how to use ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox and explore how these applications work together to provide a complete GIS software solution. The course covers fundamental GIS concepts as well as how to create, edit, and work with georeferenced spatial data. Participants learn how to manipulate tabular data, query a GIS database, and present data clearly and effectively using maps and charts. No prerequisites are required. Cost: $500.00 per seat Register now: Registration Form Introduction to ArcGIS II (Formerly Introduction to ArcGIS I) ArcGIS 9.3 Date: November 17-19, 2008 Instructors: Gordon Douglass or Bob Nagel This course is part of the ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 Foundational Training Curriculum. The ArcGIS 9.2 version of this course was titled Introduction to ArcGIS I. ArcGIS Desktop software is an integrated system that includes all the tools needed to get the most out of a GIS. This course teaches the range of functionality available in the software and the essential tools for visualizing, creating, managing, and analyzing geographic data. The hands-on course exercises emphasize practice with ArcMap and ArcCatalog (the primary applications included with ArcGIS Desktop software) to perform common GIS tasks and workflows. The tools for creating and managing geographic data, displaying data on maps in different ways, and combining and analyzing data to discover patterns and relationships are highlighted, and you learn how ArcGIS Desktop provides a complete GIS software solution. By the end of the course, you will be prepared to start working with the software on your own. Cost: $750.00 per seat Register now: Registration Form Introduction to ArcGIS II Date(s): August 20-22, 2008, September 17-19, 2008
Instructor: Bob Nagel Overview: This 3 day course follows Introduction to ArcGIS I (for ArcView 9, ArcEditor 9, and ArcInfo 9) and continues to present important concepts and functionality for successfully working with ArcGIS. With further exploration of ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox, participants focus on spatial analysis, automation of spatial and attribute data, editing, and advanced options for cartographic display and reports. Hands-on exercises teach ArcGIS procedures in the context of solving real-world problems. Examples and exercises use data from a variety of application areas. A portion of the class is reserved for carrying out an analysis project and applying many of the new skills and techniques learned in this course. Participants conduct queries, perform spatial analysis, and present their results in a hard-copy map and report. This course is designed for those with fundamental knowledge of ArcGIS and geographic information systems, in general. Cost: $750.00 per seat Register now: Registration Form Introduction to ArcGIS III (Formerly Introduction to ArcGIS II) ArcGIS 9.3 Date: November 24-25, 2008 Instructors: Bob Nagel This course is part of the ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 Foundational Training Curriculum. The ArcGIS 9.2 version of this course was titled Introduction to ArcGIS II. Understanding how and when to apply ArcGIS tools and functions is the key to creating an efficient GIS workflow. Building on the skills and knowledge taught in ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality, this course shows how to apply ArcGIS tools in a workflow context with a focus on working with data stored in a geodatabase and performing geoprocessing and analysis. In the course exercises, you organize and edit data stored in a geodatabase, prepare data for analysis, create and edit geoprocessing models using ModelBuilder, and work through a challenging analysis project. Cost: $500.00 per seat Register now: Registration Form On-Site Customized Training AGRC offers on-site customized assistance and/or training to meet your specific GIS needs. Staff members can work with you one-on-one to increase GIS skill sets or to resolve specific issues. Additionally, we can develop and deliver practical exercises using your data. We encourage you to consider this option as a bridge between other, more formal courses and project or application consultation.
