I am beginning a tree inventory for the city of St. George. I'm still in the planning stage, and was wondering if anyone out there has started a tree inventory themselves. If you have, or know someone who has, I would love to be able to discuss what fields you have found to be important to use and any methods, equipment, software, and challenges associated with such a task. I've got a pretty good idea on how I'd like to go about this, but I am still interested in ideas from others. If you do have experience with a creating a GIS based tree inventory, please feel free to contact me.
