Ideally, I think you would want to use the 2 meter LIDAR elevation dataset.

As far as software, ArcMap with the Spatial Analyst extension can generate slope grids. If I come across any free-ware for doing this kind of thing, I'll post it here.

Anyone know how to get a 30% slope file? 1 Year ago  
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how I can get or create a Salt Lake County shape file that delineates where land is flatter than 30% from where it is steeper.

Seems like you could create it from contour data, but I don't know how and it might require ArcInfo, which I don't have.

Any suggestions?
