Of course not, but it still a good complementary while you need to carry on you job after office hour. It provides a full set of spatial function that will cost you a lot in ESRI package. In Hong Kong ArcGIS is divided into certain kind of product level that if you need more function (extension), you need to pay more. For example a standard ArcInfo will cost you 120K HKD. Here a GIS analyst is earning 25K/M.
I am from Hong Kong. I use ArcGIS in my Office. But when I back home, I use QGIS, GRASS and PostgreSQL. Their performance are not bad. Besides, I have also tried the Map3D from Autodesk. It seems handy too.
I don't know of anyone using Quantum GIS in Utah but Ben Clement is using Manifold in Carbon County and I know of a few folks using postGIS in the private sector.
I know desktop GIS in Utah is dominated be ESRI products, but I wondered, are there are any other Quantum GIS users out there? It's an open source application that can be found here.
