Utah GIS Strategic Plan: Stakeholder Meeting, Nov 8. PDF Print E-mail

Written by Dennis Goreham,

Utah is preparing a new Statewide GIS Strategic Plan.

As a valued GIS stakeholder, we need your input! What is working? What could be done better?

The Utah Geographic Information Systems Advisory Council, in association with AGRC and UGIC invites you to take part in the shaping of a new GIS Strategic Plan for Utah. GIS is alive and well in Utah and the goal of this strategic planning process is to look forward at the continued evolution of GIS in the state.

An open stakeholder information gathering session will be held at 1pm on Thursday, November 8th in Salt Lake City at the State Capitol, West Building, Room W135. Please come to this session to learn about the process and to share your ideas for advancing the statewide geospatial infrastructure.

The intent of this plan is to identify and articulate a strategic vision for geospatial information and technologies in Utah and to establish strategies that will eliminate data gaps, improve services, and foster GIS collaboration across the entire state.

As a decision maker or practitioner, your insights are valuable, and your thoughts on the future direction of GIS in Utah are of great interest to us.

The session will last approximately three hours and will be facilitated by Applied Geographics, Inc., of Boston Massachusetts, with assistance from members of the Utah GIS advisory Committee.

To RSVP to the meeting, or for more information, please contact Dennis Goreham, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , at the AGRC. Please Note: If you can't attend this session but you wish to participate in this process, please send your comments and suggestions to Mr. Goreham.

A second mailing will be sent within the next two weeks with further details on the agenda as well as a link to an on-line survey which we hope you will take the time to complete.
