Mobile Data Collection Considerations....When choosing a field data collection solution, here are some important considerations (below, in no particular order).Think of these considerations as a continuum or dimension on which to estimate you applications requirements: 

• Hardware/Software Cost
• GIS background data & imagery needs (maybe even just for navigation?)
• Complexity and robustness of representation of spatial data to be collected?
• Complexity of non spatial data to be collected

• GPS integration, GPS precision needs
  
• Device Ergonomics: Size/Portability/DayLight viewable screens
• How different is the mobile application from what's needed at the office?
• Spatial analysis or attribute query needs in the field?
  Is an internet or VPN to state network required/available?
  
• To what degree Is the solution based on proprietary technology, data models, etc.
• How customizable should the solution be?
