The SGID SDE Server now contains a polygon representation of Sales Tax Areas in the SGID.U024.Administration feature dataset. This data is available via the public Spatial Database Connection and represents the approximate boundaries of Sales Tax Areas for the State of Utah. Individual Sales Tax Area polygons are formed by each municipality, special sales tax district (in 2006, there were 6 special transit districts) and the unincorporated areas of each county not in a special sales tax district. This dataset also contains an attribute field 'SST_POD' that can be used to dissolve the Sales Tax polygons into a new polygon dataset representing tax areas for the proposed Streamlined Sales Tax implementation.
Utah House, Utah Senate, and US Congressional Districts were defined during the last redistricting process using the 2000 Census TIGER line products that have a low level of spatial accuracy. AGRC is publishing a new version of these districts with a much higher level of spatial accuracy and resolution utilizing street centerline data collected by local government GIS efforts. The new version of the district boundaries can be found on AGRC's SDE server in the SGID.U024.Political feature dataset. This data can be accessed using the public agrc/agrc user login.
One feature class, AdjustedUniqueHouseSenate, is designed for a location service style query (Who's my legislator?). Query this dataset at any Utah location and it can provide house, senate, and congressional district numbers from a single polygon feature class.
Also, these datasets have "4 color" attributes that allow adjacent districts to be colored differently for cartographic representation. For the AdjustedUniqueHouseSenate feature class, we used 6 colors to make it easier on ourselves.
The latest County Boundaries are available via the SGID/SDE Database Server hosted by AGRC. Other data layers which have been recently updated include; Tax Entities, Tax Areas, School Districts and Municipal Boundaries. Updates have also been made to the AGRC ftp site.
IMPORTANT, Please read….
Two field in CountyBoundaries will soon be deleted they are POP2000 and POP2005EST. The data in these fields will still be available under the new fields POP_LASTCENSUS and POP_CURRESTIMATE.
This weekend, schema changes and data updates were made to the SGID’s SDE Data Server’s U024.Administration feature dataset. These changes effect Municipailities, County Boundaries, School Disticts, Taxing Areas and Taxing Entities. Changes were made to update and expand data contents and to organize the data so that future updates would require less maintenance for those users and services that depend on this data.
