New Political District Boundaries PDF Print E-mail

Written by AGRC Administrator,

Utah House, Utah Senate, and US Congressional Districts were defined during the last redistricting process using the 2000 Census TIGER line products that have a low level of spatial accuracy. AGRC is publishing a new version of these districts with a much higher level of spatial accuracy and resolution utilizing street centerline data collected by local government GIS efforts. The new version of the district boundaries can be found on AGRC's SDE server in the SGID.U024.Political feature dataset. This data can be accessed using the public agrc/agrc user login.

One feature class, AdjustedUniqueHouseSenate, is designed for a location service style query (Who's my legislator?). Query this dataset at any Utah location and it can provide house, senate, and congressional district numbers from a single polygon feature class.

Also, these datasets have "4 color" attributes that allow adjacent districts to be colored differently for cartographic representation. For the AdjustedUniqueHouseSenate feature class, we used 6 colors to make it easier on ourselves.
