Ensure that you have loaded Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. You can check this one of two ways.
Navigate to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework. If v2.0.xxxxx is present then the .NET framework 2.0 is installed.
Open your Control Panel and choose Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to where and entry for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 should be. (List is alphabetic.) If Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 is not present on your machine, the executable is included in the ZIP archive right under a folder called Microsoft_Framework 2.0 and is called dotnetfx.exe or the latest version can be downloaded from Microsoft.
The ArcGIS Desktop Clients requiresboth the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (Step 1) and ArcGIS .NET Support installed. ArcGIS 9.1 or ArcGIS 9.2 must be installed before installing the ArcGIS 9.1 or ArcGIS 9.2 client respectively, AND the ArcGIS.NET support must have been installed off the ArcGIS installation disk. The default ArcGIS installation does not include the ArcGIS.NET support functionality if you did not have the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework already installed. So if you didn't have Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework installed before beginning these steps, odds are you will have to obtain your ArcGIS installation disk and install the ArcGIS .NET Support via ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop install process.
Navigate to where you downloaded the ImageServer_Client ZIP file and unzip it. Once unzipped, navigate to the ClientInstalls\ (then your client version eg: ArcGIS 92) folder and execute the Setup.msi file.
Once install is complete, open ArcMap and choose Tools -> Customize. Choose the Commands tab and scroll down to the Image Server category. Grab the “Add Image Service” button and drag it onto a toolbar in ArcMap (Placing the button next to the Add Data button seems to make sense).
Click on the Add Image Service button to open the Add Image Service dialog box.
Enter the server name. For AGRC’s Image Server you will type (no quotes): “image.state.ut.us” and then hit enter. After hitting enter you should see a list populated in the window below with available services you can add.
To add an image service, double click the image service you would like to add and select Ok to add the service to your ArcMap project. Alternatively, you can highlight the service you want and hit the select button.
