Written by AGRC Administrator,

AGRC is now hosting an interactive map website entitled State of Utah Survey Control Information Viewer. the URL for site is: http://atlas.utah.gov/surveycontrol.

The purpose of this site is to publish control and PLSS Corner information in the State of Utah. Much of the control has been established by the BLM to support parcel mapping and corner remonumentation activities. Other Control has been provided by private land surveyors, other counties and state agencies.

The viewer is a map based presentation of the control points to assist with the discovery of control stations and to assess the quality of the control.

Additional points have and will continue to be added by data contributors.

We are currently soliciting feedback on the usability of the site. Please send comments to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

GCDB Aggregated Features (Sections & Township polygons) PDF Print E-mail

Written by AGRC Administrator,

The GCDB (Geographic Coordinates Database) representation of township, section, & quarter-quarter section division lines is in the process of being converted to GIS compatible datasets. The GCDB products are available on the AGRC SDE server under the SGID.U024.Reference Feature Dataset, accessible with the standard public user SDE connection parameters. The GCDB data will continue to be refined and expanded and the AGRC SDE server will have the most current revisions.

In addition to the SGID.U024.Reference's GCDB polygon featureclass. AGRC has created a GCDBSections and GCDBTownships feature class for cartographic and query purposes. These two datasets are entirely derived from the main GCDB featureclass using a basic 'attribute dissolve' strategy. In some areas of the state, the proper attribution and/or geometry is still missing from the GCDB product to create full section and township polygons. In these areas, sections and townships may be represented by a multipart polygon or a polygon with interior holes. The GCDBSections and GCDBTownships featureclasses carry an attribute field called 'PartCount' which can be used to exclude the incomplete, multipart section or township features (use this definition query to exclude the multipart features: [PartCount] = 1).
