AGRC maintains the most current datasets in Utah's State Geographic Information Database (SGID) in a MS-SQL database server that utilizes ArcSDE 9.2 (Spatial Database Engine).
ArcGIS 9.2 users with a high speed internet connection can connect to the SGID SQL/SDE 9.2 database server directly provided they have a high-speed internet connection with the ability to communicate on port #5151. A connection to the database wil allow you to use all the vector GIS datasets for display, query, analysis, and exporting.
To establish a connection, open ArcCatalog (AC). Within AC scroll to near the bottom of the AC tree view (usually the left side of the AC interface), a click on Database Connections. Next click on Add Database Connection. In the database connection window, provide the following SGID connection info (without the quotes):
Server = "agrc.state.ut.us"
Service = "5151"
Database = "SGID"
Username = "agrc"
Password = "agrc"
After entering the parameters, click the test connection button. If the connection is unsuccessful, chances are that your internet connection is down or you have a firewall issue. Contact AGRC for support 801-538-3665. If the connection is successful, you are now ready to add data from the SDE Server to your mapping and analysis projects or export datasets to the file format of your choosing.
