Documents pertaining to the Utah Transportation Data Model (UTDM) are currently housed at http://gis.utah.gov/content/view/182/42/. These include descriptions of the data model, UML data model diagrams, and empty geodatabases that utilize the UTDM schema.
Newly, updated documents pertaining to the Utah Transportation Data Model (UTDM) will soon be available (look for the changes by 10/25/06) on AGRC’s web site: http://gis.utah.gov/content/view/182/42/
Several new fields have been added to the transportation data model to enhance ease of use and outcomes relating to address location (a.k.a. geocoding). For those seeking higher levels of normalization, please keep in mind that the UTDM is a framework for data sharing and therefore includes several dependent/inter-related field definitions. The UTDM is not a solution for ever transportation application need but it is intended to maximize data sharing capacity.
The Utah Transportation Data Model defines a common set of attributes to be collected for street and road center lines within the State of Utah. The data model was originated by the Canyon Country Partnership GIS Sharecode data sharing initiative and is used extensively for the sharing of locally collected, GIS street data between local, state, and federal agencies. The current data model has been modified to utilize ArcGIS Geodatabase domains which provide a list of allowable values for many UTDM fields.

The UTDM is used by AGRC and other local, state, & federal agencies to promote the sharing of street centerline data. This data sharing effort vastly improves the economic benefits of centerline data collection and benefits the many applications that utilize centerline datasets.
