Student Poster Contest The student competition will be awarded in two categories: - Printed Map (including image maps)
- Research Presentation, including maps and explanatory text
Each category will be judged on the basis of visual quality and technical or scientific merit, although these factors may be weighted differently in each category (visual quality weighted higher for maps, technical/scientific merit weighted higher for research presentations). The best entry in each category will be awarded $150, and two honorable mentions will be awarded $75. The judges may combine categories or reduce the number of prizes if fewer than three quality entries are received in any category. Posters can be a product of the student's coursework, research area, or personal work, and must have been completed after June 2008. The work must have been done while a student (undergraduate or graduate) at an educational institution in Utah, but the submitter does not need to be a student nor live in Utah at the time of the conference. Posters produced as a result of paid employment (including both internships and academic research assistantships) are not eligible for the student competition, but may be entered into the professional competition. A student may submit only one poster.
