The UGIC Board is made of UGIC members from various constituencies that volunteer their time and talents to foster the use of GIS in Utah. Every year a certain number of positions become available. These positions are held for a three (3) year period.

Being a Board member involves a substantial commitment to UGIC. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings that last about 2 hours usually somewhere in Salt Lake County. More meetings may be held as large events approach or as deemed necessary by the Board Officers. Also members are expected to assume additional responsibilities both for the preparation and the implementation of UGIC events. These activities may and usually do require extra time throughout the month in addition to the monthly meetings.

Before the UGIC Board election can be held, a Call for Nominations is made in which you can nominate either yourself or someone else who is a member of UGIC, represents the specific constituency, and is willing to serve for three (3) years. Nominees must be members of UGIC to be eligible for election; however, remember it is very easy to become a UGIC member and it costs nothing. All nominees will be contacted to either accept or rdecline their nomination.

For more information please read the UGIC by-laws.
