About UGIC:
UGIC is a 501c3 non-profit organization and its board is composed of UGIC members elected to represent a variety of constituencies within the GIS profession. Board members volunteer their time and talents to foster the use of GIS in Utah over the course of a three year term. Becoming a UGIC member is easy and there is no charge. Here's how: - Go to http://gis.utah.gov and login using your username and password (register first if you do not have a username yet).
- After logging in, select 'Your User Page' from the Registered User Menu.
- From the 'Edit' menu on your user page (gray rectangle, upper left corner), select 'Update Your Profile.
- On the Membership/Subscriptions tab, check the box 'UGIC Membership', and click the Update button at the bottom of the page.
Board Member Responsibilities:
Being a Board member involves a substantial commitment to UGIC. Board members are expected to participate in monthly meetings that last about 2 hours usually held somewhere along the Wasatch Front. To encourage a better geographic representation on its Board, UGIC now has capability for its board members to participate in its meeting via internet-based live meeting collaboration software. More meetings may be held as large events approach or as deemed necessary by the Board Officers. Also members are expected to assume additional responsibilities both for the preparation and the implementation of UGIC events. These activities may and usually do require extra time throughout the month in addition to the monthly meetings.
Board Member Requirements:
Before the UGIC Board election can be held, this Call for Nominations is being made for which you can nominate either yourself or someone else who is a member of UGIC representing a specific or the at-large constituency, and is willing to serve for three (3) years. Nominees must be members of UGIC to be eligible for election; however, it is very easy to become a UGIC member and it costs nothing. All nominees will be contacted to either accept or decline their nomination. For more information please read the UGIC by-laws at http://gis.utah.gov/ugic-bylaws. To nominate someone for the UGIC Board: 1.
