Utah GIS Stakeholders:
As most of you know, we have recently completed a GIS Strategic Plan that spans the entire Utah GIS Community. If you missed it, here is a link to the completed plan document:
Many of you participated in the workshops, small group meetings and survey that helped inform this plan and this input was invaluable in formulating a strong plan that properly reflects the requirements of the entire Utah geospatial community. But having a plan is not enough.
We sincerely want to advance Utah’s Geospatial Infrastructure (UGI) by moving out on some of the priority recommendations laid out in the plan. Towards this end, we are conducting another GIS stakeholder input gathering forum to try and identify the highest priority initiatives that should be pursued in the short term. The goal of this meeting will be to initiate the implementation of this plan by identifying “what comes next”.
PLEASE attend this forum which will be held: Monday, October 6 from 10am - 2pm, including a working lunch that will be provided. We will meet in the Auditorium of the State Office Building -- approximately 450 N & East Capitol Blvd (150 E.) in Salt Lake City [map, directions, parking]. This workshop will aim to answer two separate sets of questions which include:
1. What are the highest priority initiatives that should be pursued?
2. Once identified, how should these high priority initiatives be pursued? - What strategy is required for implementation - Are Business Plans required, and what should they address? We want your input on implementation of the priority recommendations! Please register for this event on-line to give us a lunch count, and answer a couple of preliminary “prioritization questions” while you're at it. RSVP using the survey below: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=c9JH2Ifc1N9bDOuxdrCC1w_3d_3d Thank you in advance for your continued participation in this important strategic planning process. Please forward this invitation to others that may be interested. Sincerely, Dennis Goreham
