A closer look
UGRC has modified the source NHD data to create additional functionality. Three fields have been added to this feature class (InUtah, IsMajor, and Submerged) and features have been split at the state boundary.
NHD Codes
- FCode
- Can be used to classify water body features by NHD functional type. , opens in a new tab
- GNIS_Name
- Water course name found in the GNIS , opens in a new tab .
UGRC Attributes
- IsMajor
- Query/identify major rivers and streams for coarse scale mapping and display,
1 = major
,0 = minor
. - InUtah
- Identify/exclude rivers and streams outside of Utah. Water course features that intersect the state boundary
have been split and attributed
1 = in Utah
,0 = outside Utah
. - Submerged
- Can be used to exclude the hydrologic network features that have been added across water bodies to the NHD
dataset for linear water flow modeling
1 = submerged
,0 = surface
