Collaboration

Utah Geographic Information Systems Advisory Council

The Geographic Information Systems Advisory Council (GISAC) serves as the essential coordinating body for statewide geospatial initiatives. GISAC has a proven history of driving major projects; for example, in the 1990s, it successfully led the development of foundational data assets like Digital Ortho-photo Quads and comprehensive road attributes. It also spearheaded crucial joint efforts, including the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the State of Utah, and other stakeholders. Today, GISAC supports its mission through six active subcommittees dedicated to innovation, maintaining the PLSS and geodetic controls, and ensuring alignment on data standards and services.
