A closer look
Trailheads are point locations that provide access (and often vehicle parking) for recreational trail users. This map layer features many of Utah's trailheads but is not yet complete. The initial data were purchased from Orbital View, Inc by the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity's Outdoor Recreation Office in July 2014. We hope to expand it with data from the US Forest Service, National Parks, State Parks, and Open Street Map.
The dataset's primary goal is to assign a location and a name to each trailhead. However, the data are stored within a more complex data model , opens in a new tab that supports future collection and publishing of more robust trail and trailhead information.
